 | Sunday, June 5th, 2011: Gutiérrez Tops Best Batter List Orlando Gutiérrez of Washington HS was a smashing success in 2011, winning the Outstanding Hitter Award in the Sub League 2.
He rattled fences and pitchers as he banged out a .413 average and .431 on-base percentage. Gutiérrez logged 52 hits in 126 at-bats, 16 doubles, no triples, 15 home runs, 44 RBIs, 7 walks and scored 31 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Sunday, June 5th, 2011: SL1 Gives out Outstanding Hitter Award, Williams Gets Prize One of the Sub League 1's most coveted honors is the Outstanding Hitter Award. When all the votes were tabulated, the 2011 recipient was the standout second baseman of the Nunda HS Longhorns, Robby Williams.
He starred this season with a .399 batting average, 57 hits, 15 home runs, 49 RBIs, .459 OBP and 41 runs scored.
This weekend Williams will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. |  | Saturday, June 4th, 2011: Sub League 2 #1 Pitcher Named Willie Clark had a spectacular year for Whittier HS in 2011, putting up 8 wins for the Lightnings to walk away with the Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award trophy.
He finished the season with a 8-2 mark, 80 strikeouts and a 3.10 ERA. In 11 starts Clark surrendered 75 hits and 15 walks in 69.2 innings on the mound.
