 | Saturday, June 18th, 2011: ECC's #1 Hitter for 2011 Named Clarence Carter went on a year-long hitting rampage against Eastern Collegiate Conferences pitchers and collected the Outstanding Hitter Award for 2011.
The Georgetown center fielder battered the opposition for 73 hits, 12 doubles, no triples, 23 home runs and 49 RBIs while scoring 56 runs. He hit .356 and posted a .440 on-base percentage.
This weekend Carter will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. |  | Saturday, June 18th, 2011: Gallegos Selected WCC's Premier Batter 2011 was a very good year for San Jose State Spartans left fielder Gabriel Gallegos, this season's Western Collegiate Conferences Outstanding Hitter Award recipient.
Gallegos had an outstanding year, hitting .410 with a .451 on-base percentage. He totaled 68 hits, 18 doubles, no triples, 15 home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 39 runs.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Friday, June 17th, 2011: Lo Shuts Out Springfield Sometimes even Ching-Lung Lo of Tulsa isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.
"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said.
This time he made the Springfield Cardinals look bad 10-0.
Lo tossed a 2-hit shutout against them, totaling 4 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.
This year Lo has compiled a 7-3 mark with a 3.34 ERA in 15 starts. | |
