5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Kelby Carrey of the Idaho Falls Chukars.
He tore up the Casper Rockies to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Idaho Falls 22-7 win today at McDermott Field.
"Carrey was a tough out today," the Casper manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
K. Carrey singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in a run in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off P. García in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off M. Case in the 7th and walked in the 9th.

Pioneer League snapped the baseball drought by announcing their 2011 schedule today. The preseason is under way, and clubs across the league will be headed off to spring training and exhibition play soon, followed shortly thereafter by the start of the regular season.
