South Atlantic League 07-17-2011 Home | | | Breaking News | | Friday, July 15th, 2011: 5-Hit Game for Corley! It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Brad Corley. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Corley went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Charleston pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at L.P. Frans Stadium, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the Hickory Crawdads had a 13-2 victory over the RiverDogs.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
B. Corley hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off D. Cabrera in the 9th.
This season Corley is hitting .278 with 97 hits, 17 home runs, 64 RBIs, scored 62 runs and played in 88 games. | | Wednesday, July 13th, 2011: Aguila Gets 5 Hits It was a good day all around. Hickory whipped Charleston 15-2 and Chris Aguila displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at L.P. Frans Stadium.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told SION reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Chris is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa."
The 32-year-old left fielder for the Crawdads collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats to get his name in the record book.
C. Aguila grounded out in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off J. O'Slattery in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. O'Slattery in the 9th.
