Monday, June 20th, 2011: Mills Selected Player of the Week
The Eastern League made it official today: Jerry Mills is the Player of the Week.

He really glistened on the diamond this week with a .517 average to take home the honor. The New Britain right fielder went 15-29, drove in 12 runs, scored 12 times and hit 6 home runs.

In 2011 Mills has produced 81 hits in 278 at-bats for a .291 average with 10 home runs and gotten on base at a .327 clip.
Friday, June 17th, 2011: Connecticut Triumphs Over Curve in Shutout
Julián Reyes of the Connecticut Defenders whitewashed the Altoona Curve 5-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 4 hits while chalking up 7 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.

"Talking to SION writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Julián is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."

Year-to-date Reyes shows a 10-0 record, 14 starts, 92.1 innings, 86 strikeouts and a 3.61 ERA.
Monday, June 13th, 2011: Player of the Week: Trenton's Stokes
This past week the best batter in the Eastern League was Chad Stokes, who banged his way to the Player of the Week Trophy.

During the week the Trenton shortstop compiled a .455 batting average (10-22) with 4 home runs, 9 runs batted in and scored 7 runs.

In 46 games this season Stokes has batted at a .295 pace with 56 hits and 18 home runs.
